About 2/2: … The network focusses on debt cancellation, aid effectiveness, World Bank/IMF policy onditionality, and capital flight and financial regulation.

Work is continuing on the promotion of responsible finance principles and practices and the redesign of the financial architecture. The network is analysing and influencing European government’s policy responses to the financial crisis. The main institutions targeted by the Eurodad network are European governments, the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Eurodad’s aims are to:

  • push for development policies that support pro-poor and democratically-defined sustainable development strategies.
  • support the empowerment of Southern people to chart their own path towards development and ending poverty.
  • seek a lasting and sustainable solution to the debt crisis, appropriate development financing, and a stable international financial system conducive to development.

Eurodad coordinates the work of non-governmental organisations working on these issues, and collaborates actively with civil society in the North and South to attain these goals. Southern networks with which Eurodad works very closely include Jubilee South, Afrodad, Latindadd and Third World Network. Eurodad has existed since 1990 and is registered as a non-profit organisation in both the Netherlands and Belgium. Eurodad is funded by its members (about one third of its budget) and by the European Commission, Ford Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. More information on Eurodad’s previous and current funding is available. Read more: … (full text).
