Homepage 2/2: … Launched in April, 3ie’s innovative Policy Window invited governmental and non-governmental agencies from around the world to submit proposals of interventions that needed to be evaluated.

The aim was to fund ‘demand’ driven impact evaluations. The call was open to socio-economic development interventions in low and middle income countries. At the end of this first phase, we received a total of 35 applications from 27 countries, which were reviewed by a panel of high-level policy makers from developing countries. The 3ie Board then shortlisted 9 programs/interventions for financing.

We are now launching the second phase – inviting proposals from researchers and evaluators from around the world to conduct impact evaluations of these programs. This unique window will also have a slightly different screening process, where separate bidding will be conducted for each of the 9 programs/interventions. The research proposals will then be screened by a panel of technical experts, together with a representative of the implementing agency.
