International Community School ICS

doing the just thing – The ICS student body is composed of 400 students from over 40 countries. Collectively, our students speak more than fifteen languages

  • The ICS focus is on educating the whole child, seeking to develop the innate curiosity of our students while celebrating cultural differences in a challenging, nurturing and intentionally multi-ethnic environment.
  • With the dedication of our faculty and staff, the steadfast support of parents and the larger community, ICS has created a learning environment second to none despite the challenge of inadequate facilities, substandard equipment and non-competitive salaries … (Who we are).

Curriculum: ICS curriculum follows the Georgia Performance Standards taught within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.

A challenging international program, the IBPYP enables students to employ an investigative, inquiry-based approach to learning. English, mathematics, science, and social studies are taught in this integrated framework, emphasizing cross-disciplinary thinking, problem-solving and personal wellness.

Further setting ICS apart is the commitment to every child studying art, music and physical education as a part of their regular instruction.

All students also study a second language. Native speakers of languages other than English must go through a rigorous ESL program before joining their classmates in either French or Spanish.

Extra Curricular:

For many ICS students and their families, the school serves as their primary (and sometimes only) bridge into the greater community. As such, it is important that a wide variety of opportunities outside of the academic classroom are available.

Through the multiple sports programs, creative arts workshops, homework assistance and academic support programs offered at ICS, all the children have an opportunity to express themselves, communicate with their peers, and just have fun, while growing more comfortable and confident in themselves and their surroundings.
